Weekday Metra trains are operating on alternate weekday schedules posted here. Weekend trains are operating on Sunday schedules on both Saturdays and Sundays, with no weekend service on the North Central Service, Southwest Service, Heritage Corridor and the Blue Island Branch of the Metra Electric Line. Alternate Schedules

Alternate schedules are implemented when weather conditions or serious service disruptions do not allow for operation of regularly scheduled service. Public notice of the implementation of these alternative schedules will be posted on this website and distributed to major media outlets.

Below are the alternate WEEKDAY schedules that Metra is using in response to lower ridership due to the coronavirus. On lines with weekend service, Metra is operating Sunday schedules on both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday service on the SouthWest Service is supended until further notice, and, starting July 4, Saturday service on the Blue Island Branch of the Metra Electric Line will be suspended until further notice.

BNSF - in effect 8/3 (service increase, end of construction work near Highlands)

Heritage Corridor

Metra Electric - in effect 7/27 (adjusted run times for track work near McCormick place)

MDN - in effect through 7/31

MDN - in effect 8/1 (new schedule format, all trains/times the same)

MDW - in effect 7/15 (adjusted run times for track work near Franklin Park)


Rock Island - in effect 7/2 (adjusted run times for track work between Blue Island and Gresham)

Rock Island - in effect 8/3 (service increase & continuing track work between Blue Island and Gresham)


UPN - in effect 6/29 (run times adjusted for track work various locations)
