Pullman by Train

Did you know that Chicago has a great urban national park, accessible by Metra? It’s true. The Pullman National Historical Park is located at 610 E 111th St. Chicago IL 60628, near the Metra Electric Line’s 111th Street Station. There are only a handful of national parks in the country that are reachable by public transit, so the Pullman National Monument is truly unique. Pullman is not a museum locked in time, but an active, vibrant neighborhood that allows you to walk back into history honoring the unique stories of railroads in America’s industrial past, labor history — including formation of the first African-American labor union, urban planning and development of the country’s first model industrial town. The site’s Visitors Center is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information on self-guided, guided and group tours is available here.
