Metra trains are operating on alternate weekday and weekend schedules posted here, with no weekend service on the North Central Service, Southwest Service, Heritage Corridor and the Blue Island Branch of the Metra Electric Line. Construction Notices

*Some of the below construction schedules are applied to the "Alternate Schedules" that are currently in effect due to the coronavirus.    The below dates indicate the duration of construction projects, NOT how long Metra intends to keep the alternate schedules in effect.  Please monitor alerts and check metrarail.com or the ventra app for service updates.  

 

        To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line. 

 

BNSF : See below for effective construction dates

August 1 through October 2: West Hinsdale Station to be closed  for approximately 2 months for platform rehabilitation project.  No delays expected. 

***Thursday September 17 through Sunday September 20:  Major track work taking place between Lisle and Cicero

  • Beginning Thursday night and lasting through the last trains on Sunday night, delays up to 10 minutes are expected for trains to get through work zones.
  • Please listen to platform announcements as inbound trips between Lisle and Brookfield may be operating on a different track.  
  • On Saturday September 19, and Sunday September 20, the last trains in/out (Train #2028 & 2029) will not be operating. 

 

Metra Electric District: See below for effective construction dates

August 3 through September 18:  Midday and Late night construction taking place near Millennium Station, McCormick Place, and Homewood effective weekdays and weekends.

September 21 through October 30: Midday constrution taking place at Homewood for Amtrak station rehab. 

 

Milwaukee District North Line: See below for effective construction dates

September 14 through September 25: Glenview road crossing rehab. 

 

Milwaukee District West Line: See below for effective construction dates

August 29 through October 2: Midday construction, track work near Franklin Park.

 

SouthWest Service: See below for effective construction dates

August 31 through October 2: Midday construction between 23rd St and 74th St; track maintenance.   (5 minute delays expected for midday trains)

 

Union Pacific North Line: See below for effective construction dates

August 31 through October 2 (WEEKDAYS ONLY) : Midday construction between Highland Park and Lake Bluff; track maintenance and surfacing.

September 19 through October 4 (WEEKENDS ONLY) : Midday construction between Highland Park and Lake Bluff; installing track panels. 

 

Union Pacific Northwest Line: See below for effective construction dates

September 21 through September 25: Midday construction for crossing renewal near Woodstock.

 

Union Pacific West Line: See below for effective construction dates

September 19 through September 20: Midday construction for Fox River Bridge maintenance.
