Elimination of Ticket-by-Internet program

Due to declining internet ticket sales, Metra is eliminating the Ticket-by-Internet program – which includes recurring orders and one-time sales of Monthly Passes and 10-Ride Tickets on its website. The last day to purchase a Monthly Pass (July) via this program will be June 20 and the last day to purchase a 10-Ride Ticket will be June 30. This action is part of a continuing effort by Metra to identify ways to reduce expenses. Please see alternate purchasing options here.

Ticket Options

One-Way Ticket

For travel from one station destination to another. One-Way Tickets are valid for 90 days including the day of purchase, and they are not refundable.

10-Ride Ticket

These tickets are good for one year. Ten-Ride Tickets are not refundable. This ticket is ideal for occasional commuters or leisure travelers. One ticket can be shared by people riding together.

Monthly Unlimited Ride Pass

Monthly Passes are for the exclusive use of the purchaser and are not transferable. If you purchase a Monthly Pass online from the first of the month forward, your pass will be mailed for the following month. If you need to ride before then, please purchase a Monthly Pass from a station agent or order 10-Ride Tickets. For online ticket purchases allow up to 7 business days for delivery. Monthly Passes are valid until noon on the first business day of the following month. Refunds are subject to a $5 fee per transaction if returned after the first day of the month.

$10 Weekend Pass

Unlimited rides on both Saturday and Sunday. Can be used in conjunction with Metra's Family Fares. Not valid for travel on the South Shore (NICTD).

On weekends, don’t forget about Metra’s $10 Weekend Pass, good for unlimited rides on both Saturday and Sunday.

Fares based on traveling from Zone A or downtown Chicago.


**You will be assessed a $5 surcharge for buying a ticket on the train if an agent or vending machine is available at the station where you boarded.
