Q&A about Metra's new $10 All-Day Pass

Q. What is Metra doing?
A. Metra is launching a new $10 All-Day Pass starting June 1

Q. What can it be used for?
A. The new All-Day Pass is good for unlimited travel all day until 3 a.m. the next morning. The pass can be used on any and all Metra lines.

Q. Where can it be purchased?
A. Metra strongly encourages customers to buy the pass in the Ventra app to “Touch Less, Pay Less” fare payment.

Q. Can it be bought from agents or conductors?
A. Yes, you can buy it with cash or credit from an agent or with cash on the train. However, if you boarded at a station where you could have purchased the pass from an agent, the conductor will charge you an extra $5 fee.  We strongly encourage customers to use the Ventra app.

Q. How long will you be selling the pass?
The All-Day Pass will be sold for at least the next two months. We may choose to extend it beyond July 31.

Q. Does the pass expire?
Yes. Tickets purchased in the Ventra app expire seven days after purchase. Tickets bought from an agent or conductor are good only for the day they are sold.

Q. Will I be able to socially distance on the train?
A. We are committed to using all our equipment to provide the most amount of space possible. We will ask for your cooperation to spread out in the train. If a train gets too full, we will be prepared to run that train express and provide a backup train for remaining stops on the line.

Q. Do I have to wear a mask or face covering when traveling on the train?
Yes. Face covering are required when six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.

Q. Will the trains be cleaned and disinfected?
A. Yes. All our trains are going through a deep-cleaning during the shelter-in-place restrictions. All of them will also be cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis. We will have more information about cleaning in the coming weeks.

Q. How will Metra prevent people from crowding the aisles or vestibules?
We will make announcements requesting that people stay in their seats, and we will allow extra time for everyone to safely get off the trains. We will be asking for everyone’s cooperation to be responsible and maintain their distance.
