Elimination of Ticket-by-Internet program

Due to declining internet ticket sales, Metra is eliminating the Ticket-by-Internet program – which includes recurring orders and one-time sales of Monthly Passes and 10-Ride Tickets on its website. The last day to purchase a Monthly Pass (July) via this program will be June 20 and the last day to purchase a 10-Ride Ticket will be June 30. This action is part of a continuing effort by Metra to identify ways to reduce expenses. Please see alternate purchasing options here.

EEO Policy Statement

Metra has a strong commitment to the community we serve and our employees. As an equal opportunity employer, we strive to have a workforce that reflects the community we serve. Metra’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy is applicable to all employment actions, including but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, upgrading, selection for training, promotion, transfer, demotion, layoff, termination, rates of pay or other forms of compensation. 

As Metra’s Executive Director/CEO, I maintain overall responsibility and accountability for Metra’s compliance with its EEO Policy and Program.  To ensure day-to-day management of the EEO Program, including program preparation, monitoring, and complaint investigation, I have appointed Janice R. Thomas, Senior Division Director of the Office of Diversity & Civil Rights.  Ms. Thomas will report directly to me and acts with my authority with all levels of management, labor unions, and employees.

All Metra executive team personnel, managers’ and supervisors’ however, share in the responsibility for implementing and monitoring Metra’s EEO Policy and Program within their respective areas and will be assigned specific tasks to ensure compliance is achieved.   Metra will evaluate its executive team personnel, managers’ and supervisors’ performance on their successful implementation of Metra’s policies and procedures, in the same way Metra assesses their performance regarding other agency’s goals.

Metra’s EEO Policy and Program is a written nondiscrimination program that sets forth the policies, practices and procedures, with goals and timetables, to which the agency is committed.  The Office of Diversity & Civil Rights monitors and reports progress towards the implementation of EEO policies and procedures.  The EEO Policy and Program is available for inspection in the Office of Diversity & Civil Rights by any employee or applicant for employment upon request. 

All applicants and employees have the right to file complaints alleging discrimination with Metra’s Office of Diversity & Civil Rights.   Retaliation against an individual who files a charge or complaint of discrimination, participates in an employment discrimination proceeding (such as an investigation or lawsuit), or otherwise engages in protected activity is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Metra is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees who need them because of a disability or to practice or observe their religion, absent undue hardship.
