Metra and Union Pacific Railroad will be making minor schedule adjustments to two trains on the UP North Line and one train on the UP Northwest Line beginning Monday, Sept. 28.
The schedule changes on the UP North Line are related to the ongoing project to replace 11 bridges on the line’s inbound tracks between Grace and Balmoral streets on Chicago’s North side. Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, UP forces will begin work to shift the inbound tracks to the new bridge bays. This work will require single tracking between the Rogers Park and Clybourn stations. The existing schedules must be adjusted to prevent trains from meeting in this section of track.
To accommodate this, inbound Train 304 will depart Waukegan five minutes later than the current schedule, leaving at 5:31 a.m. and arriving at Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center (OTC) at 6:50 a.m. Outbound Train 309 will depart OTC seven minutes later than the current schedule at 6:40 a.m. The schedule changes are expected to continue through Oct. 12 but may be extended should additional time be required to complete the track work.
On the UP Northwest Line, inbound Train 658 will depart Harvard 15 minutes later than the current schedule beginning Sept. 28. The change is being made to better reflect actual operating conditions on the railroad and maintain reliable on-time performance.
