Minor schedule adjustments approved for two Metra lines
(January 20, 2012) -
Starting Jan. 29, 2012, Metra is making minor schedule adjustments on two of its lines, primarily so that the schedules more accurately reflect actual operating conditions. The modifications were made after few objections were raised during a public comment period.
The adjustments have been made to schedules of some trains on the Union Pacific North and Union Pacific West lines. In most cases, a train’s departure time from certain stops or its running times between stations or overall have been modified by one to five minutes. Some trains have slightly earlier departure times, with one train, UPN No. 352, departing five minutes earlier. The schedules are being adjusted to make them more accurate and/or to minimize conflicts with other trains.
In response to students and parents at Westinghouse College Prep, Metra will add a stop at the Kedzie station on UPW Trains Nos. 21 and 52. The school is located near that station.
The schedules of some weekend trains also are being adjusted, and all weekend trains on both lines are being renumbered to make them consistent and differentiate them from weekday trains. The biggest change is to UPN Train No. 367. That train’s number is changing to 835 on Saturdays and it will depart 25 minutes later than its current Saturday schedule. Many riders had requested a later departure to allow them to attend various downtown events. One other train, UPN No. 334, will depart 15 minutes earlier on Saturday and Sunday and its number on those days will change to 810.
Some weekend train numbers on the UP Northwest line also will change, although the schedules are unaffected. Last fall, Metra made similar adjustments to the Milwaukee North, Milwaukee West, SouthWest Service and Heritage Corridor schedules.
