New schedules will go into effect next week for Metra riders on the Union Pacific North Line to Kenosha and the Union Pacific West Line to Elburn.
Effective Sunday, Nov. 23, schedules will be changed on six North Line weekday trains and four weekend trains. On the West Line, schedule adjustments will be made to three weekday trains. In most cases, the schedules are being adjusted to better reflect actual operations and add no more than two to five minutes to the trains’ arrival times at the final destination.
On the UP North Line, morning outbound trains 305 and 307 will now make stops at Ravenswood, providing a direct connection for commuters who live in the city and work in Winnetka. Ravenswood is the line’s busiest outlying station and provides service to large numbers of reverse commuters. Due to the addition of the Ravenswood stop, Trains 310 and 312, which use the same equipment as trains 305 and 307 will now depart Winnetka two minutes later than they previously did. Train 325 will add 3 minutes to its run time, arriving in Kenosha at 2:18 p.m., and train 352 will add two minutes to its run time arriving in Chicago. These changes are being made to better reflect actual operating conditions and passenger boarding patterns.
On the weekends, schedules will change on UP North trains 812, 814, 816, and 818. Each of these trains will be scheduled to arrive in Chicago 2 minutes later to better reflect operating conditions and passenger boarding patterns.
On the UP West Line, schedules will be adjusted on three trains to accommodate boarding patterns and operational requirements. Weekday inbound train 28 will depart Elmhurst three minutes later and arrival times at stations on the route will be adjusted to reflect this change. Inbound trains 36 and 38 will depart Elburn at the same time but will add 5 minutes to their schedules enroute.
The new schedules are available online at here. Copies of the new schedules will also be available for pickup at Ogilvie Transportation Center on Tuesday afternoon, Nov.18.
