Kids ride free on Metra all summer long

(May 22, 2017) -

Metra announced today that up to three children age 11 and under will be able to ride free with each adult starting this Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

“Let Metra take you to great destinations this summer so you can spend more time with your family and less time worrying about traffic and parking,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “Our $8 Weekend Pass and the fact that kids ride free all summer makes Metra the most affordable option.”

In addition, Metra will offer early getaway service this Friday, May 26 so customers can get a head start on the holiday weekend. Most lines are adding and shifting trains to the early afternoon. Complete details can be found here. Metra will also extend its $8 unlimited ride Weekend Pass to include the Monday holiday.

Metra will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule on Memorial Day, which means there will be no service on the North Central Service, Heritage Corridor and SouthWest Service Lines.
