Commuters who use the Ogilvie Transportation Center and others who live and work nearby can now enjoy the sights, sounds and especially the aromas of the Chicago French Market within MetraMarket, the West Loop’s newest shopping and dining destination.
The 15,000-square-foot French market, the first year-round market of its kind in Chicago, features dozens of local vendors offering an array of foods, including fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods, as well as an assortment of prepared meals and snacks. It is the cornerstone of the MetraMarket complex, which also features a CVS pharmacy and an Espression by Lavazza café.
MetraMarket is a vibrant 100,000-foot retail development located along Ogilvie’s street-level suburban concourse, in an area bounded by Washington, Lake, Canal and Clinton streets. MetraMarket’s shops and restaurants link the Central Loop with the rapidly growing West Loop neighborhood.
The development also features a number of additional improvements to the suburban concourse, including the installation of new energy-saving lights to brighten the area, the renovation of the existing restrooms and the creation of a new family restroom.
The Chicago French Market, whose entrance is at 131 N. Clinton, is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed Sunday. Covered, ground-level parking is available at 165 N. Clinton, and parking is free for one hour or less with a $20 purchase at one or more Chicago French Market vendors. The phone number is 312-575-0306.
