Now you can still enjoy a relaxing train ride and avoid the stress and
hassle of rush hour traffic. In cooperation with Hertz Local Edition, Metra
offers its riders more travel flexibility with an attractive "Freedom Flyer"
program that provides rental discounts for commuters who need a car for
mid-day business.
In an exclusive partnership for Metra customers only, Hertz Local Edition
offers an hourly rate of $8.00, a half-day discounted rate of $24.00 and a
daily rate of $40.00 for compact size cars. Available at all Hertz Local
Edition locations in the Chicago area, this rate includes unlimited mileage
in Illinois and neighboring states. This partnership offers convenience to
those customers who may not take the train on a given day and drive because
they need the car for a midday appointment. The program also will be
attractive to customers who "bill out" their hours for the day, such as
consultants, certified public accountants and attorneys.
No advance notice is required to take advantage of the Freedom Flyer rate.
To qualify for the half day rate, just pick up the vehicle that morning and
return it by 1:00p.m. or pick up after 12:00p.m. and return by end of
business*. Renters must display a Metra ticket at rental time along with a
valid driver's license and fulfill all standard rental qualifications.
Any Metra ticket, from monthly to one-way, can be used.
For added convenience, several downtown locations make it easy for you to
get going. Visit Union Station (210 South Canal), West Loop (181 W.
Washington), State Street (401 N. State Street), McCormick place (2300 S.
Martin Luther King Drive), North Loop (1025 N. Clark Street), or the Lincoln
Park (3151 N. Halsted) office.
