Safety is Metra’s number one priority and that's why we remain proactive in reinforcing the importance of railroad safety by continuing our ongoing public awareness activities at schools. As always, we welcome and appreciate any active involvement and support in this effort.
There is a need for reinforcement of safety messages because today’s children are besieged by conflicting messages from their friends, videogames and television. Therefore it is critical to keep safety at the forefront of their minds.
For the fourth straight year, Metra invited students, teachers and parents to participate in our annual School Safety Campaign. This year’s initiative again featured the distribution of the popular pencil case kits to elementary school students across the region and also included delivery of safety posters to area schools. These posters were designed by students and represent the winning entries from Metra’s Inaugural Safety Poster Contest. We hope to work together as a community to support parents and educators as they teach our children that obeying safety laws is a matter of life and death. We at Metra are pleased to continue assisting schools in this important endeavor.
