Metra Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

CHICAGO, November 15, 2006 - Metra can get you home for the holiday and out again to shop and enjoy the sights of the season with its special pre-Thanksgiving schedules and "Thanksgiving Holiday Ticket" special.

Extra afternoon trains will depart Metra's downtown terminals on Wednesday, Nov. 22 for commuters wanting to get an early start on the holiday. In addition, there will be extra express service trains on Metra's Burlington Northern Santa Fe Line from Aurora to Chicago Union Station on Friday morning, Nov. 24, for holiday shoppers.

Metra's "Thanksgiving Holiday Ticket" provides unlimited two-day travel on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24, for just $5. These special tickets will be sold at ticket offices and on board all trains.

On Thanksgiving Day, Metra will operate a Sunday schedule on all full-service routes (excluding the Heritage Corridor, SouthWest Service, and North Central Service); normal weekday service will resume on Friday, Nov. 24.

Metra's "Family Fares" will be in effect Friday, Nov. 24 on all trains. Normally available on weekends and holidays, Metra's "Family Fares" allow up to three children under the age of 12 to ride free with a fare-paying adult. The Thanksgiving Holiday Ticket also offers the same privilege to fare-paying adults.
